"Although different people have different ways of understanding the truth, there is only one Creator. All of us, no matter what our beliefs, come from this Creator. That's why when Indian people gather we always say, 'Let us put our minds together and have one mind.' We know that.
"The Creator created us equal...Sometimes we think we are superior; but no, we are all equal in the eyes of the Creator. If anyone is higher it may be the children, for they are the purest and the closest to the Mystery."
- Grandfather Commanda
Day 21 - Thursday, July 13, 1995 - The Sunbow 5 prayer walk is not due in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until Friday evening. With a day to spare, the walkers rested. They spent time lounging in the sun and tending to chores: laundry, hair washing, postcards, and packing more tightly for the days ahead.
At sunset on this warm, easygoing day the walkers formed a prayer circle and made a Pipe ceremony. Then they talked among themselves, and with their hosts in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Jim Dunning and Jane Therese.
"We are going to miss the walkers," Jim told me during a phone conversation. "It's hard to let go of friends like this. They are making a difference In just a few days they have become like family. They are in our hearts."
